IT"S BACK!!  Returning this Friday night, May 4th, and continuing each month through December, the much anticipated “Art After Dark” event will offer you an evening filled with the sights, sounds and fun found only in our beautiful downtown. Take time to stroll through the participating galleries… many offering live demonstrations and light refreshments.
Can’t make it on a Friday night? Come to town each Saturday from 11:00 am till 3 pm and enjoy our new event called the “Saturday Stroll” … same great fun and excitement in a daytime setting!
Of course, stop by The Jeweler’s Workbench and say “hi” to Jeannie and the gang!

     Tom and Pat each bring unique and different skills and perspectives to their work.  In their “Ridgeline” series, the artistic and technical challenges of creating three-dimensional, yet light-weight, sculptural jewelry have led them to develop an interesting body of work.  It echoes and explores the timeless contours and patterns of the mountains surrounding their home in Western North Carolina.

Molly DingledineMolly’s admiration and fascination with the natural world, along with her connection to it, is the driving force behind her inspiration to create.  She believes that Nature, in all of its forms, is the most powerful force on Earth.  The organic forms and textures evidenced in her work pay respect to our Earth and symbolize the growth and transformation that is part of life.

Nadine Fidelman (Arden, NC)
Nadine likes to choose semi-precious gemstones, pearls, fossils and dichroic glass that have character.  She "wraps" each one, surrounding it with a minimal amount of wire, to enhance its beauty.   She uses her fingertips, finger nails and various pliers to surround each one. She often adds gemstone beads or pearls to create a unique piece of art jewelry. No casting or solder is ever used. She also creates unique jewelry with fine silver, bronze and copper.

Chi Galatea Huynh believes art is like music; the musician understands key, melody and composition.  This enables him to create music rather than mere noise.  Likewise, Chi has come to understand line, light, shape, color, texture and the mystic harmony of their relationship in creating “music” for the eyes.  This “music” is evidenced in his ever-evolving jewelry creations.

Carol is a self-taught artist whose medium is the ancient technique known as encaustic.  Encaustic, a medium used by artisans for more than 2000 years, involves the suspension of earth pigments into melted beeswax and application with heated instruments onto a chosen canvas.

Marie Scarpa Drawing from her diverse fiber arts and weaving talents, Marie hand-weaves tiny tapestries with fine gauge wire, embellishing them with brightly colored gems. This ability to combine both fiber and jewelry techniques in unconventional ways creates her unique look. 

Her specialty is hand-woven one-of-a-kind pieces, as well as limited production collections.  Inspired by her adventurous spirit and imagination, Marie’s jewelry is fun, wearable and elegant.
